Our Stories

Summer term 2022: Make this island your home

We are keen to introduce our group to ancient woodland, and to create an imaginative backdrop for the children to engage with. In the first term, this will take the form of a story where we discover a wild and forested island. With many wild creatures cohabiting, our group will be encouraged to learn about ecosystems, our basic hierarchy of needs and how to make friends with those that were here before us in this environment.

Future stories will be developed with children and, based on their input, we will explore different themes appropriate to the season, and building on the children's' existing knowledge.

Autumn term 2022: The Other Tribe

As we delve further into the woodland and the changing seasons, we discover more about how we co-exist in this environment with other plants, animals and people. We will be starting by learning and recording the different types of plants and animals in the woods, and the benefits and uses of what we discover, eg. the nutritional qualities of autumn berries. We will often examine the clues left behind by the other tribe, who share their knowledge of the woodlands and their stories with us in mysterious ways.

Autumn term 2 2022: The Festival of Colours

Autumn brings an explosion of colours all around us which we begin to appreciate in a different light as the day grows shorter and the leaves create a colourful blanket over the earth. This half term we will be looking at capturing autumn's beauty in colourful projects and activities while immersing ourselves in the folklore that this season brings.
