I've always had a connection to nature and living outdoors whether I knew it or not. I grew up camping, making fires and dens in the woods, watching Ray Mears with my Dad and being part of the Scout movement among other experiences. A steady ember lay in me waiting to be fed with tinder. My mother was a Forest School and Beaver leader and 6 years ago she blew life in that ember and put me on the path to passing a love of nature on to others. I consider it both to be a privilege and obligation to do this work, plus it is loads of fun!

Bushcraft is a great way to engage with and enjoy our natural world and feel safe knowing you have the skills to survive should the need arise. Children and young people benefit greatly from engaging in these activities.
